I can build an outdoor raised garden bed from 2x cedar or cypress wood boards far quicker with an impact driver than just a drill. The same is true for driving larger or longer fasteners, such as 3-inch lag screws into 2x construction lumber. In a DIY or home environment, drilling larger holes in harder wood or harder metals such as steel will typically call for greater torque than the roughly 500 in-lbs compact drills can deliver. The torque required to drill holes can vary wildly, even from hole to hole with no change in material or drill bit. But in residential and many commercial environments, materials change, as do the fasteners or accessories being used. In a factory production line, a self-threading screw might be driven into a plastic housing at an exact torque. In my experience, it typically comes down to trial and error, except when the application can be well characterized. There are too many variables to be able to say “this is how much torque you need to drive a #10 wood screw.” What material are you drilling into? Wood studs through drywall? How old is the wood? Are there knots? What types of screws are being used? Do you drill pilot holes first? But for larger or longer screws, or things like lag bolts, impact drivers often have speed and torque advantages.īack to the original question, as to how a drill or driver relates to a DIYer’s household needs. The next step up would be their pricier M18 Fuel model.įor driving tasks, such as John indicated being interested in, an impact driver would be a great addition.Ĭordless drills, with their adjustable torque clutches, are still fantastic for driving smaller and medium sized fasteners. The 2801 is Milwaukee’s M18 compact brushless drill. Impact drivers deliver non-reactive torque, and so there’s far less worry about kickback sending the tool spinning. If you don’t, the rotational energy can twist the drill from your hands. When driving larger or longer fasteners, you will have to exert effort to hold the cordless drill steady. With an impact driver, the faster the speed, the greater the torque delivery, due to how it works. With a cordless drill, the higher speed setting delivers lower torque delivery, and the lower speed setting delivers higher torque delivery.īecause of this, impact drivers will typically deliver faster fastening application speeds. I would say there are 2 classifications of cordless drill torque. Most of the time, it’s a binary decision – either a drill has enough power, or it doesn’t. It’s hard to identify exactly how much torque one needs in a drill. The same drill might deliver different output levels when drilling the same size hole, depending on the type of wood and type of drill bit. Let’s say you want to drill a 3/4″ hole in wood. You’re not going to find a torque table that assigns torque levels to real-world tasks. These tend to be rough guidelines, and many brands don’t provide these application limits. When digging into brands’ product spec sheets or user manuals, they will sometimes provide guidance as to their tools’ application limits.Ī tool brand might say their cordless drill has a maximum drilling capacity of 1/2″ in steel, or 2″ in wood.

The Charger is a neat little blaster which packs a mean punch. Ok, so we might be showing our age here but the NERF Rival Charger conjures memories of the infamous SBP90 machine guns in TimeSplitters – the resemblance is uncanny! The similarities don’t just stop with look either, the Charger is a compact semi-automatic blasting meany! Whoever cooked this motorized NERF gun up must be a fan of the classic from Free Radical. The NERF Rival Nemesis MXVII-10K comes with 100 high impact rounds but you will need to pick up 6 D batteries if you want to get the blaster going. We would say that “with great power comes great responsibility” but we know you are just going to blast your competition away with no remorse…. Now the Nemesis is a little more pricey than your standard Rival NERF gun but if you are serious about your blasting and want to completely dominate the field then look no further – this truly is the most powerful blaster on the market today. Rather than have to rely on clips which can be cumbersome to load and reload, the Nemesis makes use of a huge hopper which can hold up to 100 high impact rounds! Not only does the Nemesis boast an impressive fire rate and full automation it also brings hopper fed blasting to the table. You don’t have to worry about holding down any pesky accelerator buttons to get the Nemesis up to speed, simply hold down the trigger and watch (in awe) as you start unloading round-after-round upon your cowering enemies. Unlike many blaster in the NERF universe the Nemesis is a fully automatic behemoth. We can only think that the guys down at the NERF RIval R&D department either have a lot of time on their hands or they simply wanted to create the most monstrous blaster imaginable – NERF fans meet the Rival Nemesis MXVII-10k. Perhaps any mantra repeated by the Costanza patriarch, no matter how innocuous, would have driven him to madness. Of course, only a lunatic would take lessons in how to unwind from Frank. These are the words of calm and comfort that lull Frank Costanza into passivity. Either way, this term has proven exceptionally useful, and we have George’s jailbird girlfriend, Marcy, to thank. The term “yada yada” could be viewed as a succinct way of cutting a long, boring story short - or a way to gloss over the one-night stand you had last night with an ex-boyfriend. And among the various grunts and stammers out of the weirdo neighbor, this was probably the most normal. But for Cosmo Kramer, it was a general exaltation. Some might think this is something one says to a horse. Hence, the standard all future boyfriends had to meet was sponge-worthiness. Sure, Elaine might like a guy enough to jump in the hay without thinking twice, but when the Today Sponge went off the market and Elaine bought up the last case in the city, she learned to be a little more discriminating. What is it about the shiksa that holds such allure? We don’t know - but “Seinfeld” named it “shiksappeal.” (His glibness was justified - it was the Moors who invaded Spain in 711, not the Moops.)Īs any reader of Philip Roth knows, many Jewish men fall victim to the siren song of the non-Jewish woman (a k a the shiksa). It didn’t do particularly well at first, but it slowly began gathering viewers and then - yada yada yada - it permanently changed the way that we, as New Yorkers, talk. When we switch to the electric modules whether we use the “all in one” modules shown in the images and video here or the stronger 9volt modules used by DCS, Viking, Alfresco, etc al, the battery operated spark generators will have flat wire connectors.Īs a barbecue grill technician of a few decades experience I have come to be happy with these mis-matched attachments. While older electrode wires were made for the older piezo module and have “female” wire attachments that are round just as the piezo spark generators have “male” wire connectors that are round. Staged drilling bits run right through stainless fast and clean and are marked with sizes so we can match the hole we need for the electric module installation. Got questions? Need assistance? Contact Majestic Grill Parts with any questions at:Īlso, dozens of ignition modules are available on the page located at: Even if all the electrodes are damaged or too dirty to spark we can unplug the electrode wires and test the module by allowing it to arc against itself just like we show at the end of the video showing above. The battery controlled modules are completely silent so the “popping” sound we hear is telling us the modules is working as the electrodes spark in the barbecue. Also, both the push button piezo and the rotary piezo make a popping sound as they trigger the electrode so it is difficult to listen and tell if the ignitor is sparking. This is definitely more convenient than the mechanical piezo modules. The new spark generator module is going to work exactly like the older piezo module except the momentary switch on the ignition will keep sending sparks to all the modules plugged into the spark generator for as long as we are holding down the button. A single battery controlled ignitor module can manage up to eight individual electrodes so that only one button needs to be installed to control all the electrode igniters inside the gas grill. Several clients with these models that will continue repairing the grills for long term cooking have asked us about replacing the old piezo mechanical ignition module with battery controlled modules. In barbecues like older DCS models, Lynx, Lazyman another high end barbecues that were manufactured in America of top-quality materials will continue to function well into their second and third decade. The most common piezo modules are the single-spark push button spark generators but the rotary modules that click several times as the knob is turned are also very common. Many of the older barbecue grill models had piezo modules which are mechanical spark generators. This video is very quick, showing how to remove the old igniters, drill the proper size in the proper place in the control panel and how to reinstall the battery operated ignitor module through the barbecue control panel. There are also sets available for order which contain two adaptors with the stove and a „ Prepper Pack“ which comes with all adapters with which u can use all kinds of gas canisters. In the following short video we removed and replaced a push button ignition module in a DCS 48 A-model and a rotary ignition spark generator in a DCS 27 B model and in an old BGB-132 side burner. As an accessory a windshield can be added ttps:///kovea-spider-windshield/. In addition, spare parts are also available. The stove is great for campers and bush-crafters who need a versatile gas stove for cold weather conditions. If you use a larger pot (with lid) you will get a faster boil time. The Pots lid is used as an extension for the mugs’ small diameter. A titanium mug filled with 300ml of water boils in around 4 minutes. A cold weather advantage is a copper tube which preheats the flowing gas while the stove is in operation. For cold weather operation the gas canister can be turned upside down to burn liquid gas. Then the valve is opened slowly and the outcoming gas can be lit with the piezo igniter. The gas canister is connected to the hose. To use the stove the legs are folded out, these lock in place and also hold the pot. This particular set comes with the PAT-Adaptor which enables the user to connect Campingaz canisters. Normally the stoves canister connection is for screw / threaded gas canisters but can be extended for usage with others types of gas canister by using several KOVEA adapters. The KOVEA Spider remote canister stove comes with a piezo igniter for easy ignition the fuel.
